No, it wasn't meant to be this way
How much longer 'til its done?
So much grief and pressure
When we'd all rather have fun.

'Can hardly watch the news
Without feeling rage and tears
All the people dying every day
And so many live in fear.

'Heard some girls read poetry
About young women in Mexico
How poor girls would disappear
Their bodies would be found, you know...

Well these stories are nightmares
But these stories are true
Men ruin, even steal lives
There's evil 'round me and you.

No I don't say this to bring you down
But I ask, don't block it out
See we desperately need God's new world
